"Here's our love story......We met in California (Sharie's home State). After a short
visit to West Virginia (Sonny's home State) we both decided to sell all in California
and move back home. We wanted to do something that we both could work at and mainly,
be together. We plowed the ground and began construction on a 12x16 building.
With the help of family members, the Weenie Stand was built and opened its doors on September 6, 1999. Then closed three days later for our wedding.
We've renewed our vows 20 times and countin' since then as Sonny says, "It's an on-going honeymoon".
The name "Hillbilly Hot Dogs" came from a vision of ours of a true hillbilly kickin
back, taking it easy and loving life. We wanted our customers to come here and do
just that. Relax and enjoy a good hot dog. Fast food at a slower pace.
With the name in place, it was our customers that contributed the decor. They would and continue to bring us items to hang up. They give us ideas and many use the Internet to send us pictures of their ideas. That has blossomed into our fine dining facility - The Buses.
Our family room area is full of old items most of haven't seen in years. 8 track tapes from floor to ceiling and license plates that represent many of our fine visitors, who we now recognize as kin. To the tune of the old vaudevillian tune "That's Where My Money Goes" we wrote the words to our "Weenie Song". Many times we are asked if we ever tire of singing our song. Truthfully, NEVER. We love the smiles it brings, or the suprised look of the unexpecting.
One thing we are certain of, in today's world we are
all overdue for some down to earth - plain and simple - shake my hand - say hello - glad
to see ya - recognition. That is our goal. Our motto. Our way of life. Simply because
we love our customers/friends!! Bottom line.
Over the past nine years, our business has grown considerably. Word of mouth has been our best form of advertising. As once stated to us early on, "We will have no choice but to expand...Your customers will make you expand". Only now are those words ever so clear. We have expanded and continue to see our dreams become reality.
We have stayed true to our original plan, of working and being together. We're still crazy in love and we continue to unwrap new dreams and live a wonderful life full of love, family and friends. We have truly been blessed to have met each other and spend our days with some mighty fine folks. Thank You...for sharing our weenie world."
